About The Artwork
This painting is a powerful self-portrait created by the artist after a delightful and spontaneous sailing trip on the Volga river. The artist spent a magical day on a yacht, having fun, taking photos, and swimming, and encourages the viewer to do the same. Afterwards, the artist came across some wide-angle photos of herself and was initially distraught at how grotesquely large she appeared. She spent about 20 minutes feeling sad, but then realized that she was comfortable and interested in her body overall, and that she liked how she looked. If there was anything she didn't like, she would gradually fix it. So she decided to turn the upsetting photo into a work of art! With every stroke, the artist began to enjoy her reflection in the mirror more and more. She took pleasure in her own image and the organic shapes she was creating. The painting has been sitting in the studio for over a week, and the artist decided not to make any further changes to it. This signifies that the painting is complete and ready to be admired.
