Bastet is a diptych painted on two canvases, each 24" x 18" Cats were considered sacred in ancient Egypt. Wealthy families dressed them in jewels. When the cats died, they were mummified. As a sign of mourning, the cat owners shaved off their eyebrows and continued to mourn until their eyebrows grew back. Cats were so special that those who killed them were sentenced to death. The Cat Goddess Bastet is representing protection, fertility, and motherhood. Call upon her when in danger and need of protection or when you would bring passion into your life. Cats necklaces are covered with 24K gold. The surface of the painting is aged to create a vintage effect. -Finished with gloss varnish -Signed on the back -Sides are painted so there is no need for framing. -Signed certificate of authenticity

The sparkling beauty of Lake Baikal, the endless Siberian taiga, the mysterious ancient cities of Uzbekistan, the sharp Altay Mountains, these are just a few of the memories I have as the daughter of a Russian air force pilot as we traveled the vast country of my birth. All my life I have loved to travel, and my mind teems with images of other cities and countries I've visited with my husband and son. What can be better than...Scotland landscapes or "Colorado the beautiful"? Yes, you can capture scenes with a camera, but I want to delve more deeply into my emotional responses to these memories, and I am lucky that I can do this with my paintings. I want to share the joy of my memories with others… I sign my paintings "Topchy," the surname I bore when I first became a traveler!
