Bast or Bastet was one of the most powerful and renown Egyptian Goddesses of warfare. The only Goddess to be represented with the head of a domestic cat. I created my Bastet in my own unique painting style with the intention of emphasising upon the fierceness and determination of the feline within the woman. I have used a much darker colour palette than accustomed as I really wanted to draw out the intensity of desire and focus within her bright green eyes. She isn’t quite ready to pounce and gobble you up just yet… but she is definitely a force to be reckoned with. Predominantly, I create empowering, vibrant acrylic paintings consisting of brilliant block colour and striking contrast, the sensual curves of the female body and the faultless lines of geometry and pattern; With hand and brush I achieve beautiful unyielding saturation while exhibiting a meticulous sense of order resulting in an impeccable print-like quality. Ultimately, my paintings reveal a woman’s innate beauty; celebrating her sensuality and sexuality, her secrets and mystery, and most significantly, her confidence and her spirited strength of character. I hope for my artwork to inspire and empower women of all ages to embrace and revel in similar attributes within themselves while also reminding every man of the strong, beautiful women in their everyday lives. My artwork will spark connections, conversations and inspirations in your homes and workplaces, not only filling your rooms with originality and style but also igniting a perfectly unique, vivacious energy. Each painting tells her own story and I just know one of those stories belongs to you!

My name is Tanya Marie Reeves and I am a visual artist from Broken Hill, NSW Australia. I am a self-taught painter with over 20 years’ experience, working with both acrylics and textile applique. With beauty and passion, I portray empowered women upon the canvas by modern design likened to a combination of pop art, art deco, cubism, symbolism and art nouveau. I love to choreograph saturated block colour, simple lines, geometry and meticulous precision along with intricate patterns, textures and conceptual connotations. I am influenced by strong, empowered women whom are also vulnerable in-kind to be passionate, sensual and openhearted; I am influenced by colour and beauty, by divinity and magic, and by the spirited feminine connection with nature, the earth, and the universe. I am encouraged by my own growth from many of life’s tough lessons and mental health instabilities, and I am now driven to help other women open their hearts and minds, and ignite their desires to all of the possibilities within themselves.
