About The Artwork

On the east coast of Tasmania, an incredible gem called the Bay of Fires, sparkles. This work was inspired by the beauty of the view of the horizon through the towering rocks. Flecks of burnt orange and salmon pink glow as the sun streams through the clouds and lights up the sea and rock faces, so that they seem to light up from within. Contrasted against the teal ocean, the colours draw you in and you can spend hours watching the mood ebb in the ever-changing weather conditions. Bay of Illumination is available in a very limited run of A2 prints. Snap up the opportunity to own one of only 10 prints. Certificate of authenticity included. Prints are packaged beautifully in a protective mailer or tube. To preserve the quality and authenticity of my work, each limited edition print is made to order. Please allow up to three weeks for an unframed print to arrive and up to six weeks for a framed work to arrive.

South African-Australian artist, Jaqueline Burgess has devoted her career to recording the natural world around her, her vivid landscapes capture the magic of Australia's East Coast, depicting the sheer beauty of the world around the Illawarra. Burgess’ work deftly captures the power of Australia's ancient landscape. When sitting with a landscape by Burgess, one is struck by the relative insignificance of human intervention in the land; those of her works that do depict the interference of people show that even as shoreside homes, swimming pools and people scatter the landscape, there is no competing with the vastness of this country. In more recent works, Jaqueline has taken a more intimate approach to exploring Australia's landscape, looking at native flora using still life as a vehicle to explore elements of the environment within the context of the home. Jacqueline's work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. As a finalist in the Arts In The Valley in 2022 and a semi-finalist in the Doug Moran National Portrait prize in 2016 - Jaqueline moves between portrait painting, landscapes, and still life paintings.
