About The Artwork
This happy little painting is from a Laguna Beach sketch trip. I spent the day snorkeling and sketching, while walking along this beautiful beach on a perfect day! I loved the beach houses along the top of the bluff. The sky is inspired from a California Impressionist sky I've seen in paintings from an earlier era. I think it is so perfect to capture the idea of sun breaking through mist that occurs along the coast. I want viewers to feel the joy I feel in the natural world and to share my joy and excitement. As a professional artist, I always work in oil on linen, for the best archival longevity and use the best oil paints and materials.
