ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Beachcomber Treasure is part of a series based on recollections of various locations in Tasmania. I utilise the unstable character of watercolour media to consider ideas that circulate around landscape painting, including the representation of land, country, sites, environments and views. This work is organised as interspersed suggestions of pebbles, shell debris, vegetation and animal remnants as well as lost or discarded human belongings found at an abandoned campsite. I aim to capture their constant rearrangement and eventual disintegration by the action of water, sunlight and wind as well as human activity.
