About The Artwork
Buying my first house in Buitenkant Street in old Cape Town on the border of District Six inspired me to paint the back lane which was not renovated like the front of my old slave quarters. This colourful area in Cape Town city was on the border of the old District Six. I photographed many scenes of District Six and painted them in this very house backed onto this lane. This painting was part of my private collection and has travelled to Europe and back. Now for sale.
