Carolina Goedeke is a German interdisciplinary contemporary artist based in Genoa, Italy. Her practice encompasses painting, video, performance and music.
Her paintings explore transformation, interconnectedness and the relationship between bodily perception and the elemental forces of nature. Water, light, organic structures and processes of growth recur as visual and conceptual motifs. Rather than depicting nature, Goedeke approaches it as a dynamic system in which human, animal and environmental forms continuously interact and transform.
Her paintings are developed through an intuitive, physical process closely connected to movement, rhythm and direct observation of the Mediterranean landscape. Her background in dance and music informs this approach: gesture, rhythm, repetition and improvisation become integral to the development of the image.
Goedeke studied Visual Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich and at the Hochschule der Künste Berlin. Her work has been presented internationally in exhibitions, museums, galleries, art festivals and performance contexts in Europe, Asia and beyond.
