A Scottish award-winning visual artist (2016 Piket Kunst Prijs in contemporary painting). I began making work as a painter, my main medium being oil paints to create realistic portraits. However, during my studies at the Royal academy of Fine Arts, The Hague (KABK), in The Netherlands, I was drawn towards more sculptural works. This led me to creating mixed-media assemblage and since graduating in 2016 I have developed gradually into making ceramic paintings which draw a bridge between both painting and sculpture. There's a physicality in the work due to the performative energy I bring to making in the process. Each piece is made with an intention which, in turn, is communicated through the visual language. My interests lie in storytelling through making, the metaphysical, anthropology, psychology, geology, time etc. However, although my practise is a source of communication, it also acts as a meditative technique for me to process and regulate emotions.
