Fatima Moraes was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1968. Since a little girl, she has been nurturing her passion for drawing, her favourite hobby when in school. However, her academic life has led her to pursue other paths before fully dedicating to the arts. Fatima is a post-graduate in the health field and after working for two decades as a dentist, she has never left canvas and paints aside. Fascinated by the universe of pigments, its tonalities and beauty, Fatima has always envisioned, even in Odontology, to apply an aesthetically sense to her achievements. But there was something missing. The limited colour scale of dental work made the doctor quit her stable career to go back to her origins. In 2013, dismantled her office to take over painting. In fact, the artist was already a member of Escola de Artes Visuais do Rio de Janeiro (School of Visual Arts), which has contributed to an increase in her knowledge and artistic technique. Since then, after passionately investing in her dream profession, the artist has gone beyond her way of expression in sensitive and recreational themes. From the figurative to the abstract, the versatility of every work comes through the acrylic and oil paint. Colours and textures integrate this systematic production filled with sensory and intuitive experiences, where the artist looks to fulfil on the canvas a particular emotion, besides personal experiences and world vision. Daughter of Portuguese immigrants, Fatima made her way back. Crossed the Atlantic Ocean, and today, lives in Cascais, a region of Lisbon. As a way to excel, the artist continues her studies and belongs to the selected group of student of Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes (National Society of Fine Arts), the centenary institution and cradle of notable artists in the Portuguese art.
