About The Artwork
This summer, from the porch of my cottage on Bois Blanc Island, I began a new series. It was inspired by the recent revelation of deep-sea bioluminescent jellyfish. Mysteriously eloquent in design, these primordial creatures speak to our earliest beginnings. My concern in this series is to evoke and illustrate our earliest consciousness – before language, before culture. It is painted with alcohol inks on yupo paper.

Being an artist was a given in my family, one in which my mother and grandfather were both committed artists. I spent every summer of my youth on the shores of Bois Blanc Island, a pristine jewel that would eventually inform and inspire my work. Currently I am focusing on wooden assemblages which are constructed of various woods and found objects. They are in preparation for three upcoming invitational shows.
