This painting depicts the sad reality of some humans who are obsessed over the glitz and glamour of this world, only to end up with losing both the worldly pleasures and the promised light just like the bitten rose with thorns and lamp without light. Mohamad Quthubdean was born in 1984 in Singapore. He taught himself to paint realism in 2020, at the age of 36. His first painting won award in UOB Painting of the Year 2021, Singapore. He used to sketch a lot when he was young. His art journey stopped at the age of 15 because of higher education, career and family commitment. During COVID lockdown, his wife and daughter reignited his passion for art by completing 40 paintings. Quthub could not resist but to research on oil painting as he always had an interest for this medium. In 2020, he completed his first oil painting in few days and submitted it to UOB Painting of the Year 2021, Singapore, and won an award. Now Quthub is painting full-time and coaching students as well. He pursues excellence in his work and his paintings are inspired by the Qur'an. He strongly believes that any artwork should begin with creativity and end with finesse.
