About the Artist

Barbara Anna Cichocka

United Kingdom

I was brought up in Poland where I studied Art with specialisation in tapestry making. I travelled to England after being invited to wave a tapestry at London exhibition.
Although I continued to create art, it was only later in life that I committed full time to painting.
I draw inspiration from nature, gardens and the parks I visit, as well as my own garden. The variety and beauty of flowers provide delightful forms and wonderful colour combinations. I enjoy the process of observing my chosen subjects which I will sometimes study for days and other times paint on impulse, outlining the shapes and patterns instinctively. For most of my work I use oil paint on canvas but sometimes, when botanical accuracy is essential, I use watercolours on paper.
I paint for pleasure and hope others will enjoy my artwork and be inspired to reflect on the wonders of nature.
Now I live and work in Norfolk, and exhibit with the West Norfolk Artists Association . I have been offered to exhibit in London, New York and Miami. Some of my work travelled as far as West Indies. My plans for the future - just to continue creating work people would enjoy.
