Barbara Agreste is a visual artist, filmmaker, and musician whose work delves into the realms of post-surrealism and dark pop surrealism.
She exhibited a passion for drawing from an early age, leading her to pursue formal training at a local art school. Her artistic journey expanded to include studies in theatrical design at the Brera Academy of Arts in Milan, followed by contemporary dance and performance in London. She later earned a First Class Honours degree in Visual Communication from the Kent Institute of Art & Design and a Master's degree in Fine Art from Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London.
Agreste's multifaceted body of work encompasses painting, drawing, video art, and music. Her visual art often features figurative elements intertwined with symbolic motifs, exploring themes of transformation, identity, and the subconscious. Notable works include "The Tower Trilogy," a series of experimental films utilizing stop-motion animation and live-action footage to create abstract narratives without dialogue . Her paintings, such as "The Heartroom" and "Ophelia," are characterized by their dreamlike quality and exploration of psychological states.
In addition to her visual art, Agreste composes and performs music under the pseudonym Bambeena, further enriching her artistic expression. Her work has been exhibited internationally, and she maintains an active online presence through her official website, social media platforms, and a YouTube channel where she shares her video art and music.
