Artist Statement: Creating art is an immersive journey for me, a dance between intention and spontaneity. For my abstract works, I invest a significant amount of time in choosing color combinations and experimenting with various mediums. My process is fluid and responsive; sometimes I'll paint to the rhythm of music, other times I'll start each session without a preconceived plan. I put a paintbrush, knife, pen, or marker to the canvas, making marks haphazardly, reacting intuitively to what I see in front of me. The moment-by-moment manipulation of paint—scraping it off, reapplying, and layering—gradually reveals the essence of the piece. It often captures a feeling, an experience, or a fleeting moment that profoundly impacted me. At this stage, I step back and thoughtfully fine-tune the piece, making the necessary changes to complete the image. Whether it takes minutes, hours, days, or even months, eventually, I recognize the moment when the canvas no longer seeks more from me, and the piece is complete. As for selecting subject matter for my landscapes, it’s often an instinctual decision influenced by light, colors, or an evocative feeling. I draw inspiration from places that have etched themselves into my memory. Whether it's a rugged coastline, a tranquil forest, or an expansive sky, the natural world provides a boundless source of wonder and reflection for me. In crafting my technique, what makes my work unique is the harmonious blend of chance and control, intuition and intention. Each piece, whether abstract or landscape, is a testament to a moment in time, capturing an essence that words often fail to convey. This is my world, my canvas, my sanctuary where the unpredictable nature of life can be transformed into something tangibly profound. -Peggy Artist message: July 2024: Thank you for visiting my Saatchi Art page.. I hope you stay for awhile. Although I’ve painted for 40 plus years, I”m still hoping someday I’ll get it right but in the meantime I’m having fun experimenting and challenging myself with a variety of mediums and application tools while remaining true to myself. You see I’ve never been one to follow the crowd or be the same person left over from yesterday. I thrive on change. As Deepak Chopra said, “change is the fertile ground for pure creativity”…if I didn’t embrace change I’d be bored stiff. Hence, my diversified artwork portfolio. Enjoy!
