About the Artist

Elizabeth Westcott

United Kingdom

My artist’s journey began as a child growing up in the British countryside, where I always admired rural landscapes, delicate wild flowers, the subtle beauty of hedgerows and trees.

The inspiration for my paintings comes from real life rural scenes that I have personally observed. I take my own photographs, and then I creatively interpret these into original artworks on canvas. I prefer painting in harmonious, de-saturated colours that are warm, soft and muted. Each artwork has multiple layers of textured paint. Sometimes I add splatters of ink for depth, and highlights silver-leaf, gold-leaf, or gold dust, for light-catching moments.

I’m continuously curious about trees, meadows, and flowers. I enjoy learning about their symbolic significance, and their traditional uses as medicines. Through creative expression, my aim is to communicate the loveliness of the British countryside, the joy that springs forth from flowers, and the peace that can be found in nature.

My paintings are a gentle reminder to pause, to breathe, and to feel connected to the natural world.
