ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Inspired by the strong women I've seen and read about in the Black Panther Movement, Black Power symbolizes strength and direct power through a woman's eyes. My parents and grandparents were directly a part of the civil rights and Black Panther movement as residents of Harlem, NY and I wanted this piece to serve as an ode to the backbones of both movements, often unheard and unseen.
