About The Artwork

Chinese ink on chinese paper – the surface is a creative source itself. I prepared the simple but delicate white paper in a bath of chinese ink, through the folding technique I did beforehand the ink was guided in unique ways. When letting the paper dry and then soaking it again in the ink bath the depth of the background grew with every repetition. The repeated soaking and drying is also a parallel for inhaling and exhaling. As a matter of fact, everytime we inhale something always stays within us, creating an inside influenced by the outside. The process of breathing, temporarily transforms the outside to an inside and vice versa almost like a communication. The painting on top of it provides a guidance to unfold that universe which lays in every tiny molecule we inhale. Everything consits of many things. The paper work is mounted on a wood panel serving as a frame (including a passepartout). It is ready to hang.

Born 1978 in Berlin/Germany, I was raised in a city, divided by a wall and having experienced both sides before and after the fall of the Berlin wall, my art is heavily influenced by the city‘s new-found sense of freedom, a spirit of unlimited possibilities and a feeling of former restrictions rupturing, leading to limitlessness. And that‘s exactly what art is to me, limitlessness, disturbance, feeling. I want people to see what they feel by breaking open familiar images into the abstract to provoke inner emotions. My paintings are expeditions into inner landscapes, creating an echo inside the observer, reflecting a part of their identity.
