This large painting of Blenheim Palace Woodstock, Oxfordshire England shows one of England's largest houses. The painting contrasts light and dark, people and buildings and philosophically shows that buildings last longer than man and that the heavens last longer than both. The house was built between 1705 and circa 1722. The palace is also notable as the birthplace and ancestral home of Prime Minister Winston Churchill. It was originally intended to be a gift to John Churchill the 1st Duke of Marlborough from a grateful nation in return for military triumph against the French and Bavarians. I loved visiting Blenheim and wanted to record one particular view of it.
