Reunion Island
Virginie Munch paints the unsayable that passes through her. Her paintings are born from an instinctive impulse, a vital need to give form to what eludes words. In light, color, and material, she seeks to capture the traces of the passage, inner resonances, and buried memory. She often explores themes related to introspection, memory, and human emotion, with a penchant for abstraction. Virginie Munch's works are often compositions in which forms appear to dissolve into the surrounding space. Virginie Munch draws inspiration from urban influences such as graffiti, as well as shapes and patterns inherited from primitive art. She seeks contrasts to create intense and introspective atmospheres. Her color palette can oscillate between warm and cool tones, depending on the emotions she is feeling. The engravings in her painting add depth and life to her works. Between art brut and singular art, her work is constructed in total freedom, far from academic conventions. Her works, born from his imagination, are a dialogue between intuition and representation, the visible and the invisible, in search of emotions and sensations above all. Based in Entre-Deux, on the Reunion island (Indian ocean), and occasionally working in Hyères, in the south of France, Virginie Munch travels frequently and thus cultivates an openness to the world, guided by her attachment to cultural diversity. She explores inner landscapes through her painting, creating works that have found a place in private collections across twelve countries, in Europe, the Indian Ocean, and the United States.
