ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Inspired by back-lit flowers, which of many buds were yet to bloom, I titled the painting in a form of commend, as if I encourage blooming of the purple flowers. The nature-inspired paintings are more in the manner of a portrait, rather than a landscape. What draws my attention in nature is an individual subject with its immediate surroundings that suggest a unique story, a trace of time and struggle. While my painting is representational, I find the motives both from real life and imagination. They are either simply depicted as a state of being or situated as a metaphor, as a means of self-reflected expression. My aspiration is to bring out the mood and the sentiment that touches a viewer’s emotion, rather than realistic depiction. The painting is signed on the front and varnished. The sides of the canvas is painted in metallic gold. The gallery wrapped canvas is wired, ready for installation.
