About the Artist

Chi Si Poon

Hong Kong

I was born in China and moved to Hong Kong when I was in my mid twenties. I migrated to the UK in the late 80s and moved to Australia in mid 90s until I went back to Hong Kong in 2015.

Since the early 1970s, I have studied Western painting under the tutelage of the renowned Hong Kong painter Mr. Zhou Gongli (1903 – 1989) and the Lingnan calligrapher Mr. Li Wei (1927 – 2016). I am also the second-generation student of Lingnan clerical script master Wu Zifu (1899 – 1979).

I have persisted in studying and researching on Chinese painting and calligraphy, as well as Western painting art, in order to better preserve and develop the intangible cultural heritage of Chinese painting and calligraphy.

I initially started off portrait oil paintings and did a lot of works when I was young. In recent years, I have developed a new way of painting on Chinese paper blending western art technique with Chinese ink art.
