Blue Oak is inspired by the incredibly blue sky we had yesterday here in Sussex. Oaks are one of my absolute favourite trees; their impressive strength and longevity really touches me, they've stood through a lot! In fact one of the oaks near to where we live is over four hundred years old and is probably a sapling descended from the great oaks used to build Westminster Hall in the 11th Century. I put my arms around it four times which we calculated to mean it started growing in the 1580s. Incredible! I wanted to give it a really royal status, a truly blue sapped quercus indeed.
