ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Shimmery silver nestles within stripes of soft dreamy blues and greens offset with white in a work that attempts to escape the canvas. Drips slip from the upper edge to cascade beyond the confines of the canvas creating shadows along the wall. This is a highly unique work that is sure to be a talking point. Please note that the height measurement is taken to the longest drip. This work is fitted with D rings and wire for immediate hanging. The sides are painted, therefore, there is no need to frame. On the back you will find my signature, initials, title and year. It is registered on the NRAA (National Registry for Australian artists). The work comes with details of the registration and a Certificate of Authenticity.

Artist Statement “When the paint is dry my work is just beginning”. The thought that paint could be capable of independence from the canvas has been the driving force behind Julee’s art practice. It led to her process of creating paintings on plastic waiting for the paint to dry before she removes it. The unsupported material has an inherent flexibility that allows Julee to investigate her interest in textile, collage, and sculptural techniques. Through cutting, layering, moulding, weaving, and gluing, each creation is the result of many hours of meticulous and detailed work. An artist since childhood, Julee holds a BFA (Sculpture and Painting) from Curtin University, Perth. She is also the author of the book Sculptural Secrets for Mosaic (Schiffer Publishing Ltd, USA). Her works can be found in collections, both public and private, worldwide.
