My work is in many ways a call to action to save our environment, it focuses on man’s impact, specifically on the Boreal Forest. My drawings reveal the exquisite beauty of the pristine forest, but also expose the unsightly scars that man leaves behind when pillaging this important environmental resource without thought or care. My work validates the importance of forests and brings to the forefront the need for good forest stewardship for the benefit of future generations. My 20 year creative journey photographing and drawing the Boreal has taken me from Alaska, across all corners of Canada and as far as Finland. This is my life’s passion. In recent years we are recognizing the scars of Global Warming and how it has caused more forest fires, drought, pollution, excessive heat, and mega storms. My hope is that others will see the environmental impact that is practically in their own backyard, and this will raise awareness of how we need to work together to protect and conserve this important forest. I am an elected member of the Ontario Society of Artists (OSA) and the Society of Canadian Artists (SCA). I would like to think that if the Group of Seven were around today we would all go out into the woods to create art together since they were the founding members of the OSA. It’s an honour to follow in their footsteps. Fuzzy Beast Art Studio is nestled in the woods in the Town of the Blue Mountains, about 2 hours north of Toronto. It’s the best place to create work; on any given day I may see a deer poke its face through the ferns, a fox trot by or a bald eagle soar overhead.
