Borrowed scenery Painting

This artwork is a landscape of Hahoe Village. (Hahoe Village is a Korean folk village listed on UNESCO-designated world heritage sites.) The concept is that what is important in Korean architecture is the 'Cha Kyung'. 'Cha Kyung' means borrowing the scenery of nature. The scenery we see through the window has a great effect on human emotions. Koreans in the old days saw the window as a frame that could contain the scenery, rather than just a window. They enjoyed the natural scenery that changed countless times through the frame. This artwork is based on the aforementioned concept. Also noteworthy is the frame. The frame is the door of a traditional Korean house. It can be said to be a work that presents diverse perspectives on the landscape, architecture, and the relationship between artworks and frames.
