Breaking up/down Painting

I am a painter and sculptor working in Houston, Texas. I was born and raised in Czech Republic into a family that was very supportive of me and my interest in arts. I studied and worked in Prague for many years before moving to the United States more that twenty years ago. I work in a variety of media and love to explore new approaches and possibilities. Oils are my preferred painting medium but I also enjoy acrylics and other water media. If I don't paint I frequently create ceramic sculptures, abstract or realistic. I am addicted to working with clay despite its sometimes unpredictable results. Questions concerning people and the human condition in general have always been an integral part of my artistic practice. I am interested in human form, but also in human psychology, and how the two relate to each other. I am intrigued by how people interact with one another, and how they express their feelings and mental states. I am trying to uncover and understand their secret emotional lives and physical and psychological struggles. I am interested in the correlation between the spiritual and the material. Ultimately, these themes take me frequently beyond the human form and into the areas that deal with our interaction with the environment and other living creatures. What is our purpose and place in the world, what is our role in the great scheme of things? I have not found answers to these questions yet but it will not stop me from trying.
