I started out to create a unique work of art that evokes "that Texas feeling". I wanted it to look like it could have fit right in on a wall in J.R. Ewing's office! I have a special affinity for bluebonnets, cactus, buffaloes, longhorns and everything Texas, and they figure prominently in this "labor of love". It is painted with acrylics (mostly straight out of the tube), some oil pastels for highlights, and liberal use of impasto done with palette knife, for the rocks and “spirit buffalo” clouds. I muted the buffaloes in the clouds somewhat so they would blend into the sky, looking down on a country and a time they once dominated.

This is a panoramic painting done on hard canvas board with a stunning gold leaf frame, ready to hang. It measures H 27”X W 54.5”X 2.5” Depth and weighs less than 8 lbs. I use UPS for packaging and shipping. They have a special artist container box that has proven reliable and very durable.

I began my art career three years ago, when my daughter asked me to paint some pictures of her two pugs for her birthday. They turned out well enough to encourage me to continue decorating her walls with my works. I consider my style to be somewhat post impressionistic and certainly primitive since I am self taught- mostly by You Tube and Google. I am a 74 year old Texan, born and bred, and don't have the time nor inclination to learn how to paint “the right way”!
