Build It Up (Burnt Orange) Painting

This piece is one of a series of original paintings I was commissioned to create, to be made into prints for the cabins of the luxury Saga cruise liner Spirit of Adventure. This is one of the original paintings from which those were taken. It is painted with acrylic on the highest quality, museum standard, bespoke, cradled wooden board and is the largest of the four pieces. These most recent additions to my "Build It Up" series of artworks consist of four paintings reflecting my admiration for mid century pottery, brutalist architecture and strong, geometric shapes. The artworks are created in a way where layers and shapes, based on these influences, are gathered, arranged, added and removed until they settle to form a desired composition - one which combines elements of visual tension with an overall feeling of balance and harmony. Textures employed in the pieces echo the surfaces found in both architectural structures and those used in pottery finishes, adding depth and tactile qualities to the otherwise intentionally smooth surfaces of the paintings. These elements, combined with a rich colour palette, come together to create bold, contrasting statement pieces, suited to luxury interiors. Hanging hardware is not included, but would be easy to attach to the back of the panel. Framing is not necessary, as the sides of the boards are painted and finished to the highest standard, but a frame could be added if desired.
