About the Artist

George Lloyd-Jones

United Kingdom

The medium of paint does wonderful, inexplicable things to a memory of a situation, time or place. I make drawings from life as it happens to me, and I paint from my drawings. The resulting paintings are figurative, yet surreal or exaggerated versions of my memory and the past reality however they provide such a direct mental portal to the time experienced, for me, more direct and potent than any photo or video could be.
I am a young British painter, raised in the Cotswolds in a creative family. I have always wanted to paint and have directed my life towards this career in every way possible since a young age. I now live in a stripy green truck which i converted into a mobile studio several years back with the aim to travel and paint. After several years doing just that in Europe I currently am parked in cornwall where i rent a studio at Krowji.
My Most notable achievements include showing as the youngest artist in the John Moores painting prize 2016 and with the Ruth Borchard self Portrait prize 2015.
