In one of many versions of the story in Celtic mythology, Cúchulainn, the great war hero, foolishly rejects the love of the beautiful Mórrígan, who shape-shifts into the form of a raven, predicts the hero’s death and eventually watches him die in combat. In the painting, she appears at his cradle and observes the infant in a premonition of what is yet to come. This image is also available as an archival (archival inks and paper) digital print.

I paint oils and watercolors in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains in Northern California. The images in my paintings come from two worlds: Daylight—the life we experience when we are awake, and Nightlight—the lives we live when we are asleep. What I try to paint cannot be seen, so distinguishing between the two worlds is a matter of only minor importance.
