CHERRYPOPS FROM THE FOREST is a painting in Angela's latest botanical series. She has revisited still life paintings of vases filled with flowers. She takes to the canvas with a loose and free approach abstracting the flowers by layering shapes of color until she achieves the desired result. The scale of the work as well as the colors which she uses lends itself to create an evocative response. She would like this response to provoke introspection within the viewer. For Angela this subject conjures up happy and sad memories as flowers are given as symbols of thanks, happiness and solace. They remind us of nature’s abundance and in essence the events of a richly layered tapestry of one’s life. The colors in this painting is what evoked the title Cherrypops from the Forest. It is a playful title referencing wild berries found in nature symbolic of pops of color that we experience in daily life, things that make us smile or add that extra spice to daily life. Please note this is a diptych. It has been painted on 2 Masterart Professional Canvases, 40 x 30 inch x 2

“Strong, confident, joyful art to make you feel like that, live like that and love like that!” I grew up in South Africa, a country of vast contrasts in landscape, wildlife and a rainbow of cultures. Its ever present pendulums of peace versus conflict, justice versus corruption, harmony versus lawlessness, and the massive divide between rich and poor. All of these intermingled with my own family history and experiences influence the artist I am today. My practice provides a safe space to explore my full range of emotions. I know that acknowledging the light and dark sides of life’s circumstances enables me to live fully in the present and step boldly into my future with the volume turned right up! My artwork becomes that place where you can do the same.
