COMBUSTION: A PERILOUS EFFECT OF CLIMATE CHANGE Painting

Australia, as the driest continent on Earth, suffers severe bushfires and drought. The worsening effects of climate change are causing havoc with the Australian natural forests and wildlife, with the current Australian government (rightwing) choosing to ignore the perils imposed by inaction on fossil fuel production. Like many other Australians, we are incensed by the lack of ethics associated with our coal industries' control over a weak and possibly corrupt government. I want viewers to know that people like me will not sit back and quietly shut-up. This painting reflects my anger at the destruction that wildfires cause in Australia, and the fact that many of us want action, and to know that we aren't all as obtuse as our current government politicians. The black in this painting dominates - its supposed to. It makes a powerful statement about fire, while in the background life continues as normal. In other words, people forget. It is a modern, figurative landsape painting in the abstract style.
