ABOUT THE ARTWORK
The "California Pool" painting depicts a swimming pool next to a modern house, with a diver who has just jumped off a diving board. It pays homage to the famous pop art painting by the English artist David Hockney, in which however a large spray of water created by the diver appears, that is, a few seconds after Trevisan's painting. In the painting there is a view of a swimming pool with a 1960s modernist architecture building typical of Californian houses behind it. A yellow diving board protrudes from the left edge of the painting, above which a diver in a red bathing suit is suspended in the lighter blue of the pool, the edge of which is outlined by a blue stripe and a thinner white one. The placement of the trampoline - coming diagonally from the corner - gives perspective as well as cutting the predominant horizontals. The colors used are deliberately homogeneous and decisive to emphasize the strong Californian light and give the painting a pop art version. The yellow diving board stands out dramatically on the turquoise water of the pool, which echoes in the intense turquoise of the sky. Between sky and water, a flesh-colored strip of land denotes the horizon and the space between the pool and the building. The architecture of the building is represented by a rectangular block with two windows, in front of which a folding chair is clearly delineated. Two palm trees on long, thin trunks adorn the background of the painting on the right, while others are reflected in the windows of the building. A row of low green vegetation decorates the facade. The painting is made on a 2 cm thick gallery canvas (it is also painted in thickness) but it comes with a white wooden frame, it is ready to hang.
