Ready to hang. Side panel painted Black Acrylic painting on gesso primed Acid free canvas “The only real prison is fear, and the only real freedom is freedom from fear.” - Aung San Suu Kyi As many of you may know I don’t paint birds very often, but when I do it’s normally a self-projection. From where I live in Bayswater, there is a big field of open woodland near my studio. The grassland is always my favourite playground, especially during the lockdown. I often accompanied by varies local birds such as cockatoos, magpies, colourful rosellas, lorikeets and kookaburras during the walk. Pink Cockatoos / Major Mitchell's Cockatoo are hard to miss, with their pink colouring and distinctive red and white crest. These friendly, playful, highly social birds represent inner influence, balance, joy, abundance. I often see pink cockatoos having launch under the winter sun peacefully or fly up to the branches in flock playfully. It’s one of my favourite scenes to enjoy. I captured the magical scene with my eyes, froze the moment with my paint brushes and canvas, worked on it for quite sometimes in my studio. This artwork is also painted during the lock down in Victoria 2021. A special isolation diary that I wrote with my paint brushes. Hope you enjoy this original artwork of mine. A latest piece of my animal series -THE VOICE OF NATURE -. Artwork inspired by nature in Bayswater, Melbourne, Victoria, Winter 2021. -HSIN LIN Maroondah City Council Signal Box Program 2021 Hsin Lin Capturing Freedom - Pink Cockatoo 2021 Exhibiting regularly at galleries throughout Melbourne since 2017, Hsin Lin is a local artist affiliated with the Victorian Artists Society. HSIN LIN, Award-winning Artist based in Melbourne, Australia. In Hsin Lin’s ongoing, signature contemporary floral series that feature native and common flowers we know, flowers represent life and each different type of flower has a unique symbolic meaning. Lin is inspired by her close observation of the natural world. Through a process of careful looking Lin is able to capture an incredible amount of intricate detail. To create the larger-scale work, Lin normally spends 6-12 months developing the intricate composition. The fine details such as the tiny petals have been developed through ten or more layers of paint. Lin describes that ‘although still-life is considered a traditional genre, each object in the paintings stands for a different meaning and has its own story. Flowers represent us as humans, vases represent the body carrying our soul, protecting us like a shield. The weaving basket stands for connections—the bonds between families, friends and all the people around us. Even if you are apart, everyone is still being linked together as a whole and we are stronger together.’ Lin’s paintings, a series of flowers in full bloom, remind us that we are alive and that life is vibrant, blossoming and full of potential. [BIOGRAPHY] Hsin Lin is a Melbourne-based award-winning artist who specializes in contemporary floral paintings.
