Caster Painting

"Caster" is a large abstract artwork and is another in my reform series. This style involves painting, reducing, outlining, and then layering. The artwork has an architectural feel to it, though the use of vibrant colours adds a lot more warmth than a floor plan. The key to this style of painting is structure, design, and balance. The painting also shows a level of competition between the various colours, and the sections which have been muted. Caster has been constructed, then partially deconstructed, and restructured to create a level of interest as the layers build up and interact. The painting has been continued over onto the sides which adds another dimension to the artwork, and also means it does not need to be framed. I have signed the painting and finished it off with several layers of matte varnish to highlight the colours, and to protect the painting. A handy way of determining just how this sized painting will work in your space is to use blue tack dots or masking tape on your wall to plot out the border of the painting.
