About The Artwork
I was always drawn to everything Celtic and Irish before finding out, just 4 years ago in 2018 that I am half Irish. This magical painting was created with deep love for my biological father I never met, John Thomas Deering. He was living 15 minutes from me, with my sister CJ, and died when I was 17. Thanks to DNA testing, while in Czech Republic, I found out that in actuality I should have been a Deering. I have a deep love for my father William Wallo who raised me and decided to keep the name given to me at birth. My Dad William inspired me at a young age to be an artist. This painting is dedicated to my biological father John, my wonderful sister CJ, my nephew Tony and all of my Irish cousins, especially Suzanne, Candy aka Susan, Kim, John, Ray, Ann, Kelly, Jennifer and Ginny. I am Karen Deering Wallo and proud to be half Irish and half Czech. I could not have more Celtic blood, as the Czech were the original Celtics. I happily embrace both countries and cultures with open arms.

As a young child I won a gold medal for a drawing of a dog. My father and I used to draw together. I graduated from Montclair State University and did take some art classes there, however, that was not my major. I am mostly self taught. I began painting seriously in 2000 and in 2009 I was in a 4 state competition with thousands of aritsts in a museum. I won First Place in Painting oil/acrylics. The juror was the previous director of the Guggenheim so this was quite an honor!
