About The Artwork

This picture was inspired by chameleons. They are so beautiful. And their eyes, both looking in its own direction! Lovely. Viewers probably will feel the same (?). I painted here a "false mount" . I like doing that, in order to emphasize the frame and the painting, too. Seems to be suitable for modern aparmanes.

I was born in Prague in 1950.  As a boy of ten, I liked  1. Football, 2. Drawing/painting and 3. Reading.  But it was recommended to me by family elders to find something more practical as a profession. So  I studied at secondary school and then  journalism at Charles University in  Prague. After graduation (1974), I worked in different magazines as an editor.  Besides editing or writing articles I had sometimes   an opportunity to do something “visual” – such as taking photos and later also doing illustrations for different purposes. Concurrently, for fun, I  was doing collages at home, and sometimes I also painted.  Then came some health troubles  and turned my life upside down. I wasn´t able to do demanding work in the editor-office any longer or even travel somewhere to do interviews or reports.  I had to find new way of making money for living! After some hesitation I succeed in persuading my wife (who is an accountant) and we established an accounting business at home.   Frankly speaking, that time spell was no doubt the most adventurous in my life.    I was accustomed to doing one kind of thinking (using one part of brain) and suddenly I had to change it completely.   I had quite a bit of trouble with that transition. My old editor´s thinking somehow collided or even crashed with the newly needed accountant´s thinking.  The outcome of this crash were pictures, that  were mysteriously surging in my mind (instead of correct solutions of accounting problems!).  I sketched some of these pictures and later I painted them. In 2015, I exhibited my accounting series in one of Prague galleries.  Now I am retired, I quit accounting and I can dedicate as much time as I want to painting.
