ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting was inspired by a still image from a Super 8 reel that my father recorded in the 1980s while on business travel in Hong Kong. Through the medium of paint and heightened colours, I then recreate a moment in time, half imagined, half remembered.

Antonia Jackson is a French born London-based artist and a graduate from Wimbledon College of Art. She is interested in memory and the cinematic and her paintings stem from found family archives ( and more precisely rediscovered Super 8 home movies) that she brings back to life through the medium of painting. Essentially narrative, her work hovers between figuration and abstraction and her bold use of colour is influenced by post-Impressionist French and German painters.She has exhibited extensively in the Uk and has started exhibiting in France. She has recently been selected for the RA Summer Exhibition 2020. Her work is held in private collections in the UK, France,Austria and Greece.
