My name is Rachel Galea and I am a Maltese artist. I was born in a small island named Malta in 1973 and moved to it's sister island, Gozo, when I was eleven years old. I always had a keen interest in painting and attended private art lessons at an early age. After finishing school, I worked at my family business. My interest in painting blossomed after becoming a mother to my second child, Isaac. During this time, I attended more private art tuition for 4 years with professional British artist Graham Gurr. Within a couple of years, I had my first collective exhibition and then in August 2009 held my first solo exhibition at the Banca Giuratale Victoria. All of my artwork is painted with love at my studio at home, frequently accompanied by my two cats Yuki and Aika. Most of my work constitutes of impressionistic, abstract, and landscape painting, always depicting my personal style which has evolved throughout the years. The greatest inspiration portrayed in my art is the beauty of nature that surrounds the island I live in.
