City Boy is Here Painting

I was born in 1980 in Seoul, South Korea, into a large family, and I grew up watching 50 or 60 relatives gather at my grandfather's house every weekend for drinks and dinner as a child. All the adults in my family had loud voices and had a sarcastic sense of humor in everything they did, and those jokes were targeted by children and themselves alike. I don't know if I grew up in such an environment, but as an adult, I express my work through humor and satire that is a bit sarcastic and dry. My works show the process and results of creation through humor and satire, jokes and confessions, displeasure and ignorance. In these works, through the city boys who appears repeatedly in my work, I play the flow of my existence, disappearance, and presentness, but my interaction with the city boy maintains a lasting bond and is expressed as my contemporary.
