Bonnie Czegledi, J.D., born in Toronto, is a multi-media visual artist, watercolourist, author (For example: Crimes Against Art: International Art and Cultural Heritage Law, Thomson Reuters), lecturer, passionate art advocate, and international art and cultural heritage lawyer. Her watercolours and vibrant abstracts have been shown in Canada and Europe, and featured in architectural magazines. Bonnie’s work is inspired by nature’s landscapes, colour, light and music. For example, her painting, “Blue Eyes” (Acrylic and gold leaf on carved wood 50” x 50”), illustrates an intermingling of all her inspirations. The steel-blue colour was created on her own palette evoking the colour of her son’s eyes when he was born. The work also draws on her memories of the summer night sky in the Southwest of France. Additionally, she is inspired by the landscape of light and rhythm of sound from memories of her childhood summers in rural Ontario. Finally, the work is painted on wood, the material from which Bonnie’s paternal grandfather carved his magical musical instruments. Ephemera also play an important role in Bonnie’s abstract paintings. Ephemera are collectable items not meant to have lasting value. She incorporates personal ephemera and objets trouvés into her work, turning them into art that has true and everlasting meaning.
