About The Artwork
The Aztecs had an amazing culture. I'm rather fond of their surrealistic artworks. Oh, statue of Coatlicue, goddess Snakeskirt. Representing the ambivalence between giving and receiving. Wearing a necklace made out of chopped-off hands and cut-out hearts. A skirt made out of snakeskins completes the look. The artworks colour depends gravely on the light source. This might due to the fact that I mixed the backgrounds colour with a few parts neon pink which interacts extremely with natural blue frequencies of light. Size: 100 × 80 cm; linen canvas. Acrylic paint. For this piece of art I used a stencil to spray a rough outrim of the motif onto the canvas.
