Sometimes something visual gives that feeling of being wrapped up in protected warmth…not in a smothery kind of way…more like in the way you feel when the first warm days of summer come and you step out into the sunlight, bathed in its warmth. This is a place where you feel welcome…like you belong there..it’s a nurturing place where you can develop. As human beings, we produce our own selected kinds of cocoons for protection, development, and comfort. Sometimes these are attitudes which eventually need discarding, sometimes they are people or places or a combination of both. I think the key is to be on the search for your cocoon, to use it properly once you find it, and then to discard it when necessary. Pink is a ridiculously positive color. Its shades bring warmth and happiness and in this painting pinks and clays are enveloping the more intense colors in an oddly organic way. It feels natural and calm. This painting is mixed media on cradled wood panel. The frame is a wood floater with a maple finish. It is signed on both the front and back and comes with a certificate of authenticity and a handwritten thank you note from the artist. Unframed, the painting measures 22x30x1.5.

Her work has been featured in galleries, virtual exhibitions, and curated independent fairs throughout the United States. Cat earned a Bachelor of Science in Advertising/PR and a Master of Arts in Communication from Drury University in Springfield, Missouri. Her abstract work is informed by travel, the study of Communication (cultural, self, and others), and a deep connectedness to nature. ARTIST STATEMENT I long to have conversations about the deeper questions in life and this pushes me forward into the creative mode. This is how I communicate those things which remain unsaid. I've been working this year to understand more about the "bottom-line" of what inspires my work and where the colors, shapes, and styles come from. Most of my work is process-driven after a time of meditation on particular ideas. This year, my goal was to delve into the materials with more connectedness to the process and then just let the work develop on its own without thinking too much. My goal was, and is, to create more authentic/original work through establishing a state of flow in the studio with materials and process as my guid
