About The Artwork
I got the idea for "Come on Papa Joe - All That Jazz Baby Playing Poker" because I wanted to draw some funny folks having a blast together, playing cards. I hoped people would crack a smile seeing their goofy faces and silly antics. I just love jazz musicians having a good time, so it felt like a natural fit for the subject. I like how my character on the left, named Cool, seems to be yelling "Come on, Papa Joe! You're so slow!" and how you can see that Frank, the character on the top right, has Papa Joe's cards reflected in his glasses. Drawing it in a cartoony style let me make the characters extra expressive and lively, which added to the fun vibe.
