ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I began working on this in 2016 and worked on it in stages building up layers. This painting has emerged over a few years and reveals many layers beneath where areas have been left unpainted. It is of significance for me as I embraced working in abstraction and became more comfortable with the process of painting over and arriving at the composition. I tried to achieve balance in the design and to create natural areas for the eye to rest.
