Connies Rose is a painting of a particularly special rose which grows in my girlfriends garden in London. At 60cms square it is an arresting image and I have painted it quite 'loosely' to express the love that is within it. I also like the colours typical of this 'old English' Rose variety.

I immerse myself in the dramatic land and seascapes that surround me in Cornwall and initially make studies,in oil on canvas or board, painting quickly using bold and vigorous brushstrokes to express my subjective response to the location.
