Consuming me Painting

Kasia Wasiak is a visual artist born in Warsaw, Poland in 1982, currently residing in Barcelona Spain where she creates her art. After finishing the graphic and advertisement studies she decided to leave the hometown to live in Dublin, Ireland then Gibraltar, UK and finally Barcelona, Spain. Mostly self-educated artist; over the years experiencing with different media, developed a unique style and vivid color imagery shown on various events and exhibitions. "How powerful do we think we are? How much control do we have over our reality? How fast are we able to overcome obstacles in our lives? How difficult do we make our path to happiness? Those questions and many more I’m asking myself while I am painting... I explored my own capabilities to overcome blocks, anxiety and depression. In my paintings I want to show the power of the mind, visualization, concept of conscious existence. Sometimes though, vulnerability and hedonistic behaviors take over which are also a part of the journey so I capture that as well. I think everyone passes through the process of self-calibration that’s why is so important to understand ourselves to be happy... Neuroscience and psychology fascinate me in terms of the possibilities that those disciplines give us to improve our lives and the world around us, that is what I show in my art; the connection and detachment of the body and mind. I work in oils and most of the time in bold colors with lots of contrast, on canvas, creating the images in many layers. I travel inside and outside of my body, explore different places, states of consciousness, dreams... "
