ABOUT THE ARTWORK

There is an amazing walk near to where I live, when you get to the top of the hill there is a panoramic view of the mediterranen coast and the surrounding countryside. I have noticed this particular tree many times as I walked past and decided that one day I would paint it. At the first opportunity of good weather and time I have begun the studies. There are many insects around as the tree is on an abandoned park. It is a very quiet and peacful spot however you can hear the distant sounds of children playing and the people enjoying the good weather. This painting is part of a series of studies of the surrounding area. Large watercolour painting of the Cork Oak tree on the hilltop looking towards the bay, Bahia Las Rocas Painted in Manilva in Spring 2022 on heavyweight watercolour paper. ´There exists a correlation between the soul, place, and destiny, and my paintings serve as a representation of this connection¨. Kirsty Wain, a talented contemporary British painter currently based in Spain, explores the profound connection between the soul, place, and destiny through her artwork, which has been featured in prestigious exhibitions such as 'Being with Trees' in Gibraltar and 'Regeneration' at the Hansard Studio in London. Her pieces, which focus on the beauty of landscapes, can be found in private collections worldwide, as she employs color and line to capture the true essence of each location with a sense of liberation and individuality. Kirsty Wainś landscape art endeavors to encapsulate the intrinsic nature of a location by employing a liberal approach, utilizing color and line to construct a harmonious arrangement. The influence of post-impressionism resonates throughout her creations, characterized by the application of thick, textured paint onto the canvas. Enthused by the perpetual beauty of the natural world, Kirsty Wain finds inspiration in the intricate details of trees, the undulating contours of the terrain, the vastness of the ocean, and the captivating allure of the skies. Each place holds significance for Wain, evoking vivid recollections of a fleeting instant or a poignant memory.
