In the sixties and seventies I lived and painted in Paris having been awarded a prestigious studio scholarship. In the mid seventies I returned to Los Angeles, and opened an art gallery on La Cienega Blvd. During this time I was pulled into an unexpected spiritual journey that took me around the world for the next forty years. So returning to painting, after many decades, needless to say, took me by surprise. The surprise came seven years ago in the midst of a research project on a spiritual master. When visuals started coming to me, I realized I needed to paint what I was experiencing. As I started painting, one canvas led to another, as new dynamic energies and light forms needed to be expressed. The paintings emerged with colors that were unfamiliar to my palette, yet they needed to be very colorful, bold and large in scale. The paintings had a life—a spirit—a vibration of their own. For these past years, painting has been front center in my life. The play of light forms that I work with, energizes me. This creative process is both healing and a source of great joy. It’s as if I am having a conversation with a higher dimension that keeps magically unfolding.
